Update on the Gyre

In this post, Addicted made the plastic problem, I discussed the plastics problem and the fact that there is no solution until the 1% production accepts responsibility for the recycling of plastics and build plants to recycle. Once these plants exist then ordinary people can be expected to be conscious of their waste and fit in with whatever system is in place to get their waste to these plants. Waste as refuse does not deal with the problem as landfills are not a solution, the problem can only be solved using waste as recycling.

Significant as part of the problem of the need for plastics recycling are the plastics concentrated at sea in the gyres. The Scripps Institution of Oceanography had an expedition to the North Pacific Gyre, and at this You-tube page, SEAPLEX videos, there are a number of interesting clips. Enjoy is not appropriate.
